Learning & Impact

We believe good intentions are not enough. We want to know whether what we do helps families, whether we can deliver it well, and what it takes to reach more families sustainably.

We’re starting with the WHO Caregiver Skills Training program in Nairobi. Our pre-pilot is designed to help us learn what works in practice before we expand.

What We’re Learning

Does it help caregivers?

We want to understand whether caregivers feel better equipped and supported in their everyday lives.

We will look at four things:

Confidence

Do caregivers feel more capable in their parenting role?

Wellbeing

Do caregivers feel better emotionally and mentally?

Social support

Do caregivers feel more supported and connected?

Life satisfaction

Do caregivers feel more satisfied with their lives overall?

With a small first cohort, we will look at changes over time and use what we learn to guide what we test next.

Can we deliver it well?

We will look at the program from three perspectives:

Caregivers

  • Reach, enrollment, attendance, and completion
  • Wellbeing and child safeguarding
  • Personal experience and feedback

Facilitators

  • Readiness to deliver the program
  • Support and supervision needs
  • Personal experience and feedback

Us

  • Fidelity to the WHO CST program
  • Implementation challenges
  • Adaptations and what we learn along the way

What does it take?

We care not only about whether an intervention works, but whether it can be delivered cost-effectively and sustainably.

Our long-term goal is to understand two things:

Cost per participant ($/participant)

What does it cost to reach and support each caregiver?

Cost per WELLBY ($/WELLBY)

How much does it cost to generate one year-equivalent of improved wellbeing?

The pre-pilot will help us begin building the cost data and measurement systems needed to answer these questions. We do not expect to have reliable cost-effectiveness estimates after a single small cohort.

As we reach more families and gather more outcome data, we will use this information to understand whether the model can deliver meaningful impact for the resources required and what it would take to reach more families sustainably.

Results

No results yet. Training has not started. Once we run our field test, we will publish our findings, lessons, and costs here, including what worked, what didn’t, and what we would change.
